This heritage restoration for the Wilderness Society headquarters comprises of extensive works to the interior, front façade, and two-story veranda. From the ground-up stabilisation of the original failing sandstone footings. New caulked seam decking installed for superior waterproofing. Installation of replica new turned posts (up to 4m) - splicing new and old. Joists and beams were replaced as required. All the ornate fretwork replaced, including the central arch. New balustrades installed, including the turned balusters.

In addition to the verandah restoration, the entire building received a renovation, including a reroof with stainless steel downpipes, hydronic heating installation, renovation of existing bathroom and installation of two new bathrooms, new recycled-timber kitchen construction, custom double-glazing installation into existing sash windows throughout, rewire, plaster, interior and exterior paint to meet heritage requirements, repair and refinish of original floorboards, restoration of original doors, skirting and architraves, (all components custom machined to match existing).

Responding to the client brief, this project required a high level of ethical consideration surrounding the sourcing of materials, particularly timber. No new timber from native forests was used.
